This 2600mAh lithium battery cell from Saft is based on lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) technology and has concentric (coil) electrodes with high load capacity.

Features include high operating voltage, power ratings, reliability and excellent resistance to wet environments, while non-flammable. With a temperature range of -60 to +85°C, the battery is ideal for applications such as back-up systems, real-time clocks, measuring instruments, alarms and safety equipment, emergency transmitters and electronic tolls.

Q. What is the charging regime for a lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) battery. Is a charger suitable for LiPo cells also suitable for Li-SOCl2?
A. Hi PJ, thank you for your question. Lithium-Thionyl Chloride batteries are primary cells and are therefore non-rechargeable in fact it would be a serious fire/explosion and burn hazard if charging of any kind was attempted. Please see the data sheet for further information and warnings on page 2.
