A 30mm diameter miniature multi-wheel from ELMA incorporating a rotary encoder wheel and an 8+1 joystick function. Built-in back-lighting LEDs can be programmed for colour and brightness.
Turning the outer ring of the multi-wheel operates the rotary encoder, with the joystick being operated by simply pressing one of the 8 raised direction buttons or the centre push function on the joystick disc.
Connections are made via a 6-position ZIF connector or via solder pads. Each encoder step or joystick actuation generates an 8-bit command over the UART output interface.
