The Anvil AV-AN48W is an ESD safe analogue soldering station with a power rating of 48W. It is ideal for PCB level assembly and repair applications.

The temperature sensor is built into the heating element giving instant control of temperature stability.

Good iron for the money

For a soldering iron costing around the £50 mark inc. VAT, this Anvil model seems to be well designed and Rapid have spare tips etc. readily available at reasonable prices. My old Weller EC4100D base and EC1301 iron have given great service over the years but it is now almost impossible to get spares. This seems to be a reasonable replacement for it without having to shell out a fortune for a Weller replacement. The base does in fact seem to be a near exact copy, design/dimension wise of the old Weller unit. Suspect they may have acquired the moulds?? The actual iron seems quite well designed too and is very comfortable to hold. Much better than some of the poor designs typical of the cheaper end of the market.
