This is a giclée numbered limited edition 850 on 310gsm thick, 100% cotton rag paper. The original oil on canvas was painted when Nash just moved to Swanage, Dorset. Here he explored surrealist imagery and themes in his paintings as well as his photography. Event on the Downs is a depiction of Ballard Down just outside of Swanage, but Swanage was a tourist location with leisure activities such as tennis. It features things from his photographs such as a tennis ball an old stump white chalk cliffs and natural tracks as symbolic characterizations of place. The picture is an amalgam of responses to the new area Nash was encountering, in both the man made and the natural environment.
