Danish artist Lene Bladbjerg creates prints of striking graphic quality. Crossing the line from graphic design to fine art, Bladbjerg’s work is infused with a gently haunting character, as bold type and strong composition dominate the frame. ‘Loveletter Green’ exploits Bladbjerg’s keen eye for typography and graphic composition like a noughts and crosses game gone AWOL, the flat, teal coloured background is awash with alternating ‘X’s and ‘O’s, in large, white, sans serif type. Bladbjerg plays with the minimalist aesthetic by upsetting the uniform regularity at the last moment a question mark nestles in the bottom corner of the print, as though querying the entire typographical structure. Full of knowing naivety, the print is packed with mesmerising charm and allure a truly arresting piece of contemporary print work.
