The inspiration behind this print was the cyclists at the Velodrome, during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Using a pallet of blue greys and yellows the geometric shapes capture the moments and dynamism of the two cyclists in pursuit of one another as well as pursuit of Olympic gold. Cleden was deeply inspired by the form and movement of the cyclists at the Velodrome, Olympic Games 2012, held in London. Here geometry dominates shapes perfectly suited for pursuit – both of one rider in pursuit of the other, and of each in pursuit of Olympic gold. The modern streamline helmets reflect shapes used by artists such as Cyril Power and Sybil Andrews who heavily influence Paul Cleden’s works.
