'Pier of Lost Souls' is part of Richard Berner's 'Beasts of Brighton' collection, and depicts a surreal adaptaion of the iconic Brighton landmark, the West Pier. In his own words Berner says by re imagining the pier he is capturing the dark beauty of the pier's crumbling remains. At first glance this captivating image simply looks like a watercolour of the Pier, but upon closer inspection it becomes clear that this painting is far from ordinary. The pier is made of curious shapes, sometimes flowing into faces, bodies, and creatures, surrounded by gorgeous watercolour sea in blue and purple tones.
