Danad Design was founded back in 1958 as an experimental Design company but has remained dormant for more than half a century. More recently Danad has been unearthing previously unseen bodies of work from a remarkable and extensive archive to combine 1920’s and 1930’s imagery and combine with contemporary images – in this particular piece, the works of Dissent. ‘Slumdog Norway’ a spin on Slumdog Millionaire – While Slumdog millionaire was based around innocent children in India, ‘Dissent’ ironically uses sentimental images from the 1920’s set against a not so appealing modern backdrop. This piece encompasses two young children, big beaming smiles on their faces, skiing down the beautiful Norwegian Mountains in an illustrative style combined with contrasting photographic imagery of a rather poverty stricken Norway to produce a completely new piece of art adopting two very different styles. This piece is signed and numbered by the artist.
