‘The Giraffe Who Wanted To Be a Swan’ is an impressive piece from an ongoing series of digital collage artworks by Carl Moore titled Animals Pretending To Be Other Animals. Carl Moore says of the series “My main concern is with the merging of the ridiculous and the representational, the end result being to create a series of prints and paintings which communicate a degree of pathos and also appear unsettlingly odd, playful, quite tragic and endearing.” This Giraffe on a sumptuous background of deep mustard yellow is surrounded by the paraphernalia of his dressing up experiment. Surrounded by paint cans and covered in dripping white, with two ferns for a tail and a black beak, this beautiful species bending creature is not afraid to be who he wants to be.
