Contemporary artist Zoe Moss works at the intersection of fine art and photography, to produce a powerful photorealist aesthetic. Her prints focus on the iconic from superhero to celebrity with a humorous twist creating mini narratives and adding off kilter elements, Moss’s work explores the modern day obsession with the cult of the icon, in striking form. ‘We Can Be Heroes’ depicts the infamous David Bowie, striding toward the viewer in a sharp, black suit. Moss has added a deep red, swishing cape to Bowie’s shoulders, proving, as Bowie famously sung, that ‘we can be heroes’. Set against Moss’s signature soft pink background, the image itself is an icon, with its bold visual appeal and powerful conceptual prowess.
