Andrew Millar works with a range of medias to produce a beautiful collage aesthetic in his contemporary prints. Layering gold and silver leaf over instant film, Millar’s pieces are soft and delicate, suffused with an intangible haunting quality and a vintage feel of times past. ‘A Distant Focus 24ct Gold Leaf Collage’ depicts the silhouetted figure of a child, walking towards the viewer. The background has been made up of spiraling rings of god leaf, for a retro sci fi feel with hypnotic undertones. Using a palette of only gold leaf and dark, sepia brown, Millar captures the light and shadow of his subject with incredible dexterity. A truly striking piece of contemporary art.
