Adnams seeks to find the finest examples from the world's most renowned wine producing regions. Wines that have character, complexity and truly express how the magic mix of vine, soil, weather and man can come together to create something special. In the heart of the Médoc, Jean Baptiste Cordonnier runs a family estate of 25 hectares. His principal focus is his vineyard and since he took over from his uncle in 1993 he has reduced the use of pesticides by 60% and leans towards organic viticulture. Along with his neighbours he is engaged in joining the woods that surround the vineyards with 'animal corridor' hedges that encourage a healthy population of snakes and lizards, kept in check by a small force of short tailed eagles! Balance is everything. Traditional varieties, classic vinification techniques and barrel ageing are the way of the cellars and when we tasted his superb 2010 we just had to have it.
