‘Art is what you can get away with’ isn't originally a quote from Andy Warhol but from the Canadian philosopher Marshall McLuhan. But it certainly encapsulates Warhol’s approach to art challenging the media and objects we look at as ‘art’. Like Duchamp and his signed urinal Warhol wanted to explore what it meant to be a work of art. Warhol also used the silkscreen originally an industrial printing method in creating his bright and colourful pop art. This print has been published with the help, advice and authorisation of the Andy Warhol Foundation. This high quality print was produced using the silkscreen method. Silkscreens are created one colour at a time making them ideal for artworks featuring bold areas of colour. Image Credit ©®TM 2016 The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc.
