Louise McNaught’s works often focus and encompass animals and wildlife and in this particular piece takes on the ever so elegant Swan. Symbolically the Swan is linked closely to Aphrodite the Greek Goddess of Love, grace and beauty and also her Roman equivalent Venus, and in Celtic symbolism the Swan is linked to cyclical rebirth and self transformation and is mirrored in the Celtic Goddess Brigid who encompasses elegance, beauty, fluidity in movement and speech. In this piece I have played up the connection to Venus with the use of neon pink paint, which highlights the vibrancy and energy of the Swan and how it traditionally represents beauty. This piece is signed and numbered by the artist.
