Contemporary artist Zeus merges fine art with a graffiti aesthetic, bringing the two styles into communion for a truly unique body of work. Have experimented with urban art on the streets from a young age, Zeus bring his formal training from Chelsea College of Art to bear on the gritty graffiti styles to dizzying success. Inspired by the 80s urban scene, Zeus is redefining street art as we know it. ‘Escaping Criticism’ is a witty, smart and beautifully executed work of art. An update of Pere Borrell del Caso’s nineteenth century painting of the same name, Zeus has a gas mask wearing child climbs out of a painting, clutching the frame as he ‘escapes criticism’. In the background the black wall has been sprayed with pink tags. Taking the traditional street art trick of trompe l’oeil and adding contemporary elements, Zeus has created a truly powerful print.
