‘Failed Unicorn’ is an attractive piece from an ongoing series of digital collage artworks by Carl Moore titled Animals Pretending To Be Other Animals. Carl Moore says of the series “My main concern is with the merging of the ridiculous and the representational, the end result being to create a series of prints and paintings which communicate a degree of pathos and also appear unsettlingly odd, playful, quite tragic and endearing.” This donkey on a yellow ochre background has tried, and failed, to achieve his goal of becoming a unicorn. His face and body language shows the disappointment of the slipped ice cream cone unicorn horn, a perfect representation of the daily struggle with modern body image, and expectations. This limited edition art print is the perfect balance of humour and melancholy.
