The Hollick Wilgha vineyard is located on the south western corner of the famed Coonawarra cigar and was first planted in 1975. Hollick Wines have been making a Shiraz from this property since 1988. The 2009 Wilgha Shiraz is a selection of the finest fruit from dry grown, low yielding vines on the shallow terra rossa soil. Prolonged flowering occurred during November due to cloud and wind, resulting in a noticeable decrease in fruit set and a corresponding drop in crop levels. The vines resilience was tested in January with four consecutive days of heat, however the healthy canopies shielded the grapes from damage. Vintage temperatures were slightly below average providing a long slow ripening period with intense colouring of the grapes. Limited stock.
