The cult of the enigma has replaced the cult of personality in modern street art circles, and Puck is no exception. Ever evading identification, Puck creates bold, graphic prints, engaging with iconic motifs from contemporary culture. Yet, while his identity may remain unknown, his work is less elusive, celebrated at the forefront of the urban art movement and easily distinguished thanks to its strong and assertive aesthetic. ‘Love is the Drug’ depicts a bed of soft, red roses, the title letters overlaid like a stencil in large, graphic type. Yet Puck doesn’t stop there the romantic connotations of red in the blossoming flowers is disturbed by splatters and drips of red paint that surround the central image, evoking blood, death and danger. A powerful visualisation of the classic Roxy Music hit, ‘Love is the Drug’ is bold, brash and beautiful a must have for the contemporary art collector.
