Urban artist John Doe brings the aerosol art of the street to the canvas, with his hand finished, spray painted prints. With a photographic eye for colour and composition, Doe creates prints of striking beauty with a strong aesthetic. ‘Play Nice’ depicts the silhouettes of three children, arms outstretched like aeroplanes in a moment of childish game play. Attached to the arms of each child, Doe has added nuclear missiles, creating a troubling undertone that sits unexpectedly against the beautiful, acrylic painted sunset. It’s a powerful image, in both its message and aesthetic, and a piece that proves that great street art need not be street bound.
