Contemporary artist JBOY is known for his street art style and skilled stencil works. Famed for hijacking a Banksy street piece in London in 2010, JBOY’s work is full of irony, parody and humour, always filtered through high impact aesthetic and thought provoking concept. ‘SELFIE Real Silver’ depicts an elegant woman wearing a 1950s style polka dot dress, with high heels, large sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat. At her feet sits a bow tie wearing Chihuahua, while a child in rags reaches up to take a bundle of dollar bills from her hand. The scene of contrived charity is captured through the selfie, as the woman clutches a selfie stick carefully angled to include the deprived infant and pouts towards the camera.
