Contemporary artist Rebecca Mason works with neon light to create a unique and striking aesthetic. Her work explores the darker side of human nature through the medium of light, for a conceptually powerful juxtaposition. In using neon, Mason allows the seediness of the city to seep into the delicacy of her work, which is always centred around typography, offering a slight but profound comment on human existence and emotion. ‘Word Search’ depicts the single word ‘lost’, each letter bent from bright blue strips of neon light. The eye catching word is set against a black background, onto which Mason has printed a poetic and emotive paragraph, that explores both the nature of art and the deeply personal. The interplay of light and dark is mesmerising and profoundly beautiful and Mason’s message is life affirming a brilliant moment of illumination in an all too often dark world. Please note that this is a print only and does not include lights or neon elements
