Camberwell College of Art graduate and London based illustrator Chris Keegan creates screen prints of exceptional beauty and dynamism. For Keegan, the art of print is all about “mixing the old with the new” incorporating “the explosion of technology and gadgets of the last ten years” into painterly styles to rejuvenate the tradition of the screen print. ‘Blue Lake’ showcases Keegan’s extraordinary ability to merge method and media for a truly refreshing take on the art of print. Inspired by traditional Japanese print work, ‘Blue Lake’ depicts a mountainous vista, with rolling clouds, dense woodland and a great rippling lake at its foreground. Keegan has hand printed layer upon layer of brightly coloured ink, for a striated aesthetic that reflects the dynamic formation of the natural landscape. The print is busy and bold with its extraordinary colour palette and thin, vertical composition, capturing the sublime beauty of nature through a mastery of artifice.
