Digital artist Carl Moore produces an aesthetic like no other revelling in the uncanny, Moore’s animal prints are an exercise in contemporary surreality, achieved to extraordinary success. Merging the playful with the tragic, the absurd with the endearing, Moore produces highly graphic images, bold in their colour and compositional technique. ‘Le Whistle Prancer’ depicts a chestnut brown carousel horse, decked out in colourful trappings a cherry red saddle, sky blue sashes, a green bridle and colourful flowers in its mane. The horse’s hooves, legs and tail fade away into long drips of paint, as though the freshly made image has been left to run. ‘Le Whistle Prancer’ is oozing in surrealist style, loosely reminiscent of Dali, with its melting motif, but with a strong graphic sensibility and an iconic intensity.
