The work of Kristjana S Williams is inspired by traditional crafts of fine art with a distinctly Victoriana style and an aesthetic which recalls Chinese silk printing, Williams depicts vivid scenes and figures from the natural world using contemporary collage and print techniques. Her work explores the use of vibrant colour, clashing different shades and tones for a resultant harmony which is at once compelling and beautiful. ‘Lear Gaukur 07’ references traditional Chinese bird painting two birds perch on branches in profile, surrounded by an abundance of sprouting plants and flowers and delicate butterflies. The heads of the birds have been adorned with Williams’ signature butterfly wing plumage, to remind us that, despite the antique beauty, this is the product of contemporary collage processes, which allow Williams to bring different elements of the natural world into aesthetic communion. This print is signed and numbered by the artist. This print is also available in 29.7 x 42cm to order please contact our customer service team httpwww.artrepublic.comcontact us
