‘M is for Marilyn’ forms part of a set of bold and colourful silkscreen prints produced in 1991, one for each letter of the alphabet. Each print adopts Peter Blake’s typical and unmissable style of working, incorporating ‘found’ imagery from magazines, postcards and popular ephemera. This piece encompasses American actress, model, singer and heart throb Marilyn Monroe. Peter Blake uses a large image of a very young Marilyn Monroe as well as a collage of images that spans her life from babyhood to her final years. ‘M is for Marilyn’ is signed and numbered by the artist.
