Danish artist Lene Bladbjerg creates prints of striking graphic quality. Crossing the line from graphic design to fine art, Bladbjerg’s work is infused with a gently haunting character, as bold type and strong composition dominate the frame. ‘Make My Day’ relies on an ultra minimalist composition, using nothing but a repeated simple shape in a clean, sharp palette to produce a strong aesthetic. Small, black crescent shapes fill the white space, haphazardly scattered in a variety of sizes. Amongst the black shapes, Bladbjerg has nestled a single red crescent, upturned to symbolise a smile. Dripping in artistic savvy, the piece is strong in its simplicity, driven by an unparalleled sensitivity to colour and composition for a truly arresting piece of contemporary print work.
