Picon Amer is a bittersweet French aperitif made from spirit infused with natural extracts of orange peel, cinchona and gentian. It was first made by Gaeton Picon in 1837 while he was working on creating a solution to help the malaria epidemic. On returning to France, a case of Picon was secretly submitted to the London Exhibition, and it won a medal. He then started making the brand in Marseilles, where it is still made to this day. By the end of the 1930's Picon was the most consumed spirit in France. Now is the opportunity to rediscover a long lost, well loved brand. Picon is delicious served with tonic and a slice of orange or simply add prosecco for a delicious and refreshing drink.
