The work of RYCA has developed something of a reputation in the contemporary art world the pop art meets street art style has established RYCA as a leading figure in the evolving street scene and a name to watch. His work frequently incorporates familiar figures from Star Wars, transplanting them into other pop culture contexts to create an aesthetic of skewed nostalgia which is always playful, a little ironic and oh so spirited. ‘Reservoir Trooper Neon Pink’ was first released at the artrepublic Art Yard Sale on Sunday 5th June 2016, in which some of the biggest names in the contemporary art world came together in Brighton’s Jubilee Square, giving fans the chance to buy from the artists directly. ‘Reservoir Trooper Neon Pink’ reuses RYCA’s famous mash up of Star Wars meets Reservoir Dogs suited bodies, trooper helmeted heads, which has sold out in different incarnations time and again. For this version, RYCA has used a neon pink background with a cyan blue border, and allowed the figures to bleed black and blue paint drips down the print. It’s like Banksy meets Warhol meets Pollock all at once, only with comedy, nostalgia and a certain panache thrown into the mix what more could you possibly want
