This is a beautiful giclee reproduction on 310gsm thick, 100% cotton rag paper of a 1939 watercolour by Eric Ravillious. Rain falls from a luminous sky onto contours of land sculpted by time and coloured with a pallet of brown, grey, green and white. This is one of a series of chalk figures painted by Ravilious before and during the World War II.nbspThe White Horse of Uffington in the Berkshire Downs dates back to the Bronze Age, circa 1000 BC. It is by far the oldest of the white horse figures in Britain, and has a unique design. The White Horse has had an impact on various cultural forms, from Henry Moore’s sculpture to Paul Nash’s photography, G.K. Chesterton’s poetry and the music and album art of Kate Bush, XTC and Nirvana.
