Albourne Estate Bacchus 2015 75cl Bottle

Albourne Estate Bacchus 2015 75cl Bottle

The 2015 Bacchus exhibits the hallmark pronounced aromas of the variety but is more citrus dominated than 2014, with up front grapefruit and lime zest coupled with cut grass and gooseberry aromas. More delicate elderflower and tropical fruit passion fruit, guava notes open up on the palate. Super refreshing and crisp on the palate. England is one of the coolest of the cool climate viticultural regions and also probably the wettest our summers are notoriously unpredictable and unreliable, testing resolve and optimism. There are few places in the world where wine growing is more marginal! This presents Albourne Estate with unique challenges each season. While they learn from the established wine growing regions, developing locally relevant solutions and methods are essential in order to create a unique and sympathetic English style. They have deliberately restricted their plantings to just over 10 hectares 26 acres of vines with the aim of capturing the essence of variety, vintage and vineyard, which requires an enlightened approach and meticulous attention to detail at every step of the process the small scale of their business allows them to be fastidious and meticulous with attention to detail. The Bacchus is a bit special as it is crafted from a blend of early and late pick grapes in order to create greater interest and balance within the wine and at least 3 separate ferments are run, using 3 different yeast strains to best release the varietal aromas. Grapes are whole bunch pressed under inert conditions and then slowly and gently fermented in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve the aroma profile with just enough residual sugar retained to give just a hint of softness.
