Contemporary artist Ceal Warrants depicts life’s darker side, through images of childish innocence and naivety. An uneasy blend, Warrants’ work questions the saccharine nostalgia of childhood remembrances, to create a thought provoking and visually powerful aesthetic. ‘And What’ employs powerful colour and compositional technique to extraordinary success against a sunshine yellow background, a young girl hovers at the corner of the print, her choppy pink hair clashing beautifully against the dominating, bold yellow.
