Contemporary artist Dirty Hans cites Toulouse Lautrec and Lichtenstein amongst his greatest influences an unlikely pairing of art greats, the result is Dirty Hans’ own unique and striking aesthetic, by turns gritty and poppy, in artful measures. His work riffs off 1950s pop culture, from music to movies to magazines, updating Pop Art styles with an innovative combination of acrylic and spray paint on canvas, merged with digital techniques. ‘Audrey Hepburn Black’ depicts the iconic Hepburn, her arms and torso awash with delicate, floral tattoos. Urban Hepburn holds two fingers up in a peace sign, clutching her camisole top a black and white incarnation of the American flag as it slips suggestively from her shoulders. A brilliant merging of 1950s styles with contemporary aesthetics, ‘Audrey Hepburn Black’ is smart, sultry and stunning.
