Danish artist Lene Bladbjerg creates prints of striking graphic quality. Crossing the line from graphic design to fine art, Bladbjerg’s work is infused with a gently haunting character, as bold type and strong composition dominate the frame. ‘But Was The Grass Always Greener’ is crafted around a scratchy green background, loosely resembling a grass field, but more reminiscent of the bold and fluid abstract expressionism of the 1950s New York School. The titular words are then printed across the backing, in large, white type. Dripping in artistic savvy, the piece is strong in its loud simplicity, driven by an unparalleled sensitivity to colour and composition, for a truly arresting piece of contemporary print work.
