Meet Tim Doyle, contemporary illustrator, print maker and king of ‘nerd cool’. Drawing inspiration from a life long love of comic books and video games, Doyle creates prints of inimitable style that incorporate cultural icons from the music industry to art house film into a graphic aesthetic like no other. ‘Death Of Buckley’ takes cult film The Royal Tenenbaums and creates a striking print, in the detailed, illustrative style of a graphic novel. The iconic Tenenbaum mansion fills the image, and several of the key characters can be glimpsed through the windows and on the street. Doyle depicts the climactic scene of Buckley the family dog’s death, as he is flattened tragicomically by a sports car. It’s a powerful snapshot, filled with painstaking detail, for a compelling piece of contemporary print work.
