Mike Edwards has pioneered contemporary typographical art, masterfully mixing images with graphic font for a striking aesthetic. Taking icons form the music industry, Edwards creates portraits using song lyrics, producing works that bring together different art forms in the most seamless of styles. Inspired by Debbie Harry and the New Wave culture of New York more broadly, Edwards has penned a poem, which draws together Blondie song lyrics alongside Big Apple imagery. The lines of verse have been visualised into an image of Debbie Harry’s face, in graduating tones of blue, while the words ‘New York’ have been overlaid in bold shades of orange.
