The work of Kristjana S Williams is inspired by traditional crafts of fine art with a distinctly Victoriana style and an aesthetic which recalls Chinese silk painting, Williams depicts vivid scenes and figures from the natural world using contemporary collage and print techniques. Her work explores the use of vibrant colour, clashing different shades and tones for a resultant harmony which is at once compelling and beautiful. ‘Lear Gaukur 09’ references traditional Chinese bird painting a canary yellow bird perches on a flower embellished branch, its long, black tail tipping down towards the page’s edge. It’s head adorned with Williams’ signature butterfly wing, we are reminded that, despite the antique beauty, this is the product of contemporary collage processes, which allow Williams to bring different facets of the natural world into aesthetic communion. This print is signed and numbered by the artist. This print is also available in 42 x 29.7cm to order please contact our customer service team httpwww.artrepublic.comcontact us
