Contemporary artist Zoe Moss works at the intersection of fine art and photography, to produce a powerful photorealist aesthetic. Her prints focus on the iconic from superhero to celebrity with a humorous twist creating mini narratives and adding off kilter elements, Moss’s work explores the modern day obsession with the cult of the icon in striking form. Brilliantly subverting the norms of graphic novel narratives, ‘Mac to the Future’ depicts Doc and Marty, stood in their classic outfits that iconic red puffer and those distinctive white overalls. In a satirical twist of contemporary culture, Moss has replaced Doc’s remote controller with an iPad and Marty’s film camera with an iPhone what more would they need in the twenty first century! Set against Moss’s signature soft pink background, the image is both comic and iconic, with its bold visual appeal and smart conceptual prowess.
