Camberwell College of Art graduate and London based illustrator Chris Keegan creates screen prints of exceptional beauty and dynamism. For Keegan, the art of print is all about “mixing the old with the new” incorporating “the explosion of technology and gadgets of the last ten years” into painterly styles to rejuvenate the tradition of the screen print. ‘Rolling Hills’ showcases Keegan’s extraordinary ability to merge method and media for a truly refreshing take on the art of print. Inspired by the English countryside, ’Rolling Hills’ depicts a glorious vista of undulating downland, rolling into mist. Keegan has layered up mossy green, golden yellow and sea blue to recreate the intensity and variety of the landscape, and finished the print with splashes of bold scarlet for a nuanced pop art feel. Think Ravillious meets Warhol, for Keegan’s contemporary take on the landscape, which captures the sublime beauty of nature through a mastery of artifice.
