This blue coloured self portrait is one of a whole series Andy Warhol created in the year before his death. Warhol strongly controlled his image through his career and worked just as hard on cultivating the image of the artist and he did on creating his art. He took a whole series of polaroid’s often in his striking ‘fright wig’ and then used these to create silkscreen portraits along the lines of the celebrity portraits he had created throughout his career.
