Antony ‘H’ Haylock knows how to have a little fun with art. His work centres around iconic, inanimate objects which, as he says, contain “the power to evoke an emotion, a memory, a visual time stamp.” H’s prints artfully blend high impact compositional technique with tongue in cheek wit to produce an appealing aesthetic that combines pop art themes and styles with fine art skills and a penchant for word play. ‘Sunshine on a Cloudy Day Valium Bottle’ reproduces a white valium bottle, carefully rendering all of the text in meticulous paint daubs. Think Warhol’s consumerist centric Pop Art meets Damien Hirst’s pill penchant, but with its own textured and painterly aesthetic. Bold and brash, dark while fun, the piece is beautifully executed to maximum impact.
