Re invention is key at Domecq. Irish founder Patrick Murphy left the place to his commercial advisor Juan Haurie in 1791, who then had to supply Napoleon's invading army. Bankruptcy ensued, staved off by Juan's aristocratic relative, Don Pedro Domecq Lembeye. His descendant Don Alvaro has started afresh in an artisanal way, buying Jerez' historic Pilar Aranda cellar. Alvaro now makes our Fino dry and elegant, with classic piercing savoury freshness. Serve chilled with nuts or smoked fish.
