Contemporary artist Eismann creates prints of striking beauty, using a highly skilled, stencilling process. Combining photography with hand cut, layered stencil work, Eismann draw inspiration from the everyday, translating portraiture and scenes from the natural world into his compelling and unique aesthetic. ‘Wild Life’ depicts a small fox crouched against an off white, block printed background. Eismann has cleverly replicated the texture of the animal’s fur, which resembles, in places, a thick, green forest the scene of its natural habitat contained within its own coat. Its a clever use of illusory technique, and the careful relationship between colour, tone and texture works to astonishing effect. The result is both beautiful and hypnotic a mastery of contemporary print work.
