The new generation, brother and sisters Manuel, Esperanza and Amparo Álvarez Arenas Bayo recently undertook a complete renovation of their organically run 47 hectare vineyards and winery, on the edge of the provinces of Cuenca and Ciudad Real. The family Álvarez Arenas have been growers and winemakers in La Mancha for over 270 years, but the current foundations were laid more recently, when between 1890 and early 1900, the family built a farm complex consisting of the main house, tool sheds, winery, gardens, and other facilities. This shimmering blue hued, cherry toned, chocolate and spiced blend of Tempranillo, Syrah and Cabernet is powerful yet restrained, warm yet elegant. Matured in concrete vat so very pure, unoaked fruit character.
