The new generation, brother and sisters Manuel, Esperanza and Amparo Álvarez Arenas Bayo recently undertook a complete renovation of their organically run 47 hectare vineyards and winery, on the edge of the provinces of Cuenca and Ciudad Real. The family Álvarez Arenas have been growers and winemakers in La Mancha for over 270 years, but the current foundations were laid more recently, when between 1890 and early 1900, the family built a farm complex consisting of the main house, tool sheds, winery, gardens, and other facilities. This rich, Rioja style blend of Tempranillo and Graçiano was fermented in concrete and 225l oak casks, and aged in previously used oak casks.
