This museum art print is of a detail from Andy Warhol’s ‘The Last Supper’. The Pop Art image is part of a series of ‘Last Supper’ paintings which were made in late 1986. This was Andy Warhol’s last ever completed suite of paintings before his death in February 1987.The series was a commission for the Milan bank Credito Valtellinese. The Warhol originals were hung in the bank’s new premises, just across the street from the Church of Sanata Maria della Grazie, where Leonardo da Vinci’s original ‘The Last Super’ can be seen.nbspA press release from the Guggenheim noted, “Warhol considered the project crucially important to his life and work. Although it is not widely known, Warhol remained a devout Catholic during his life. Image Credit ©®TM The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc.
