Take the picturesque route CD14 from Aix en Provence to St Puy Reparade some 14km away and you will run into the Palladian style Château La Coste set in its 150 hectares of rolling Provencal countryside. We were led here by winemaking genius Mathieu Cosse of Cahors who has taken over the winemaking here. Everything is biodynamic and the resulting wines are a delight. This complex white is made from 70% Vermentino and 30% Sauvignon. The grapes were hand harvested from only the oldest vines 30 yrs on the northerly chalky slopes. Only the ripest grapes are selected and then it is fermented in barrel and aged for 8 to 10 months.
