Dishwashers

Dishwashers use both electricity and water.  If your dishwasher needs replacing its worth considering an energy efficient model.  An energy efficient dishwasher can use up to 40% less energy than a standard model.  All these savings add up over time.

If your dishwasher does not need replacing there are still things you can do to save money.

  • Only run your dishwasher with a full load full load and if your dishwasher model has an economy mode then try and use that when possible
  • Switch off your dishwasher after its been used.  Its estimated that £700m worth of electricity is used through people leaving appliances on standby
  • If you have economy 7, try and run your dishwasher when you get cheaper electricity.  Whilst this doesn’t make much difference from an environmental viewpoint it can save you money.  Consider investing in a plug in timer that means you can load your dishwasher up during the day and set it to run.  The timer means it only runs off peak and in the morning you have clean dishes.
