Energy Saving - Washing Machines

Running your washing machine at 30 degrees instead of a higher temperature can save up to 40% of the electricity used. Modern washing powders will work just as effectively at lower temperatures so if the load is not very dirty it may be wise to take this into consideration when running your washing machine

Try and only run your washing machine with a full load.

Also, if you have economy 7, try and run your washing machine when you get cheaper electricity.  Whilst this doesn’t make much difference from an environmental viewpoint it can save you money.  Consider investing in a plug in timer to make it easier to run your washing machine at night.

You should bear in mind that a washing machine can be quite noisy so consideration to neighbours and the rest of your family is important.
